11:00 am - Brunch for filmmakers

1:00 pm – Provoke (Block 1)

This block of films is intended to provoke audience members towards discussion of the various films being presented at the festival. Does this film convey any strong message? Is it coherent? Do you agree? From an animation meditating on the life of a man who worshipped the sun to a portrayal of an individual’s courage in protecting an oppressed victim from unimpeded cruelty, these films seem to be a good place to start in inviting the audience to immerse themselves in the day’s selection of films.

● The Man and the Sun (2:31)

● Rabbit Head (2:41)

● Hunting (7:25)

● Had He Fidelity (20:00)

● The 36 (6:38)

Approx. 39 minutes

2:00 pm – Disorient (Block 2)

This block of films may not springboard audience members into any profound discussions (who knows, maybe it will!), but will likely succeed in disorienting viewers with their unique and often bizarre humor. An exceedingly content ghost,

a trio of geometric representatives, a disheartened extraterrestrial, a maniacal sock connoisseur, and an exhaustingly persistent man ready for a midday meal will all leave you squirming uneasily in your chair with a strange delight.

●
Happy Ghost (1:42)

● On Shapes (5:27)

● Sposbarogy: An Annual Meeting of Trothbarogans on Earth (4:11)
●
Bill of Sale (11:47)
●
Sack Lunch (9:18)

Approx. 32 minutes

3:00 pm - Xu’s Little Lover (75:00)

Approx. 75 minutes

4:30 pm – Spaghetti Recess is Phil Sudderberg on drums and Evan Metz on guitar. Phil is a recent UIUC alumnus and Evan is about to graduate. They play locally with the band Grandkids.

Approx. 15 minutes

5:00 pm – Amuse (Block 3)

This block of films might not be quite as strange as the “Disorient” block, but nonetheless should succeed in making you laugh and smile at some of the outrageous performances and scenarios, delightful character interactions, and constant banter. Here is where you will find the group of funny guys ready to provide a ridiculous but hilarious gag, the parody of a cute animated Disney short, an eccentric cabin-dwelling, canoe-paddling, cake-baking duo,

and of course, a puppet comedy.

● Dancing Shoes (2:27)

● Wicked Text Syndrome (2:44)

● Paperman (6:42)

● Earnest & Purcell (6:28)
● Small Victories and Disappointments Chapter 1: Donnie and Alan Look for Jobs (24:41)

FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY

Approx. 43 minutes

6:00 pm – Captivate (Block 4)

In this final block of films, we hope to captivate audience members with films that have garnered our special attention through compelling characters, striking images, or emotional engagement. Whether each film fascinates, disturbs, puzzles, or maybe even saddens you, we hope that this block succeeds in eliciting some forms of emotional response that speak to the power of the art form to affect viewers and generate discussions.

● An Encounter with Two Boys (3:42)

● A Man A Man (9:46) Length subject to change (~ 8:00)
● Gone (7:55)

● Gold Man (6:05)

● Dipsomania (8:22)

Approx. 34 minutes

6:45 - 7:00 pm - Awards Presentation

After each block, we will invite filmmakers in attendance to the stage to briefly discuss their film and answer any audience questions, facilitated by the listed individual for each block. This will take place from the end of the block until about 5 minutes prior to the start of the next event, or earlier if there are no further questions or comments.
